Andrew is a Chartered Accountant and Insolvency Practitioner.
Having trained as a Chartered Accountant at a small local firm, qualifying in 1986, he moved to the Corporate Recovery and Insolvency department at Ernst & Young’s Manchester office. In 1999, he successfully completed the Joint Insolvency Examinations and became a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner.
Following this, Andrew went into industry, concentrating on companies listed on the Alternative Investment Market, initially at a vehicle telematics company and latterly at a market leading personal insolvency business where he became the Group Operations and Finance Director. In 2004, Andrew returned to public practice and set up DMC Recovery. Since then he has assisted hundreds of directors of SMEs when seeking to wind up their business.
Until recently, Andrew was a member of the Independent Community Scrutiny Panel. Based at GMP Rochdale Divisional HQ, this involved scrutinising a sample of the “stop and searches” and “uses of force ” by GMP using the footage from the body worn cameras. This was intended to help GMP improve practices and identify any improvements required. He particularly enjoyed the “ride alongs” and seeing the officer training first hand.
At the weekends, he can often be found being Dad’s taxi with his daughter in a 7.5 tonne horsebox, ferrying her to pony competitions. He is also Deputy Chair of the Manchester High School Governing Body.
